Purpose… Priorities
“Many persons have a wrong idea of what constitutes true happiness. It is not attained through self-gratification but through fidelity to a worthy purpose.”-Helen Keller.
“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” -Stephen Covey
Power of Prayer
Just over 2 weeks ago, my baby girl fell, and as a result, she was left with a buckle fractured wrist and a splint to be worn for 4 weeks. That weekend, she, without any prompting, wrote a prayer card at Church that read, “Dear God, Please heal my wrist.” We went to the Ortho Dr. today, and I can report that her wrist is healed. The Dr said if she does any strenuous activity for the next two weeks to wear the splint just in case she falls… But that is more of a precaution than anything else. Perhaps her early healing was the splint…or the vitamins and omega 3s that we pumped her with… BUT perhaps, my baby girl has an even deeper testimony. Proper nutrition and medical advice are great, but don’t underestimate the power of prayer!
What I learned in Vegas
VEGAS!!! below is something I wrote while in Vegas…
As I sit alone enjoying the beautiful bounty presented before me of grilled Salmon and roasted Thumbelina carrots on the patio at Mon Ami Gabi on the Las Vegas strip, my appetite is more than satisfied. I sip my glass of wine and savor every bite of my delicious meal… I take time to smell the various aromas of my feast, complete with a mint pea puree’, as I bring it towards my palette. I listen to the horns of the rental cars, cabs, and limos driven by today’s and yesterday’s youth, the chatter of diners at the surrounding tables, the loud obnoxious cries of men and women that may have had “one too many”… and I watch the activity around me.
As a Christian, what am I to think about the billboards plastered with and blatantly displaying sexuality? The trucks driving up and down the strips advertising adult shows? The young girl wearing a light display of feathers and dancing with her 4 inch heals on, begging for tips? The salesmen passing out pornographic cards inviting the passerby to sink into the sex trade? The whistles of men yearning for the attention of a woman…or… of women? Green beans, sweet potato fries, chicken…and a lefty!!! Now his grandfather will brag on him even more. So many people try to change their children. They want them to conform to the norm.
Why not just embrace their uniqueness instead… Who knows, maybe what makes them uniq
ue could have its advantages. Kbug is still developing into his own unique self, but if her ends up a le
fty, should I force him to use his right hand? OR, should I look for the advantages in the situation – perhaps when the time comes, he can receive a scholarship just for being left-handed?
Vegas here I come…
Vegas here I come! Time to learn, team build, relax, and have fun! Roo prepared me a special brunch this morning- Leftover lamb and a deviled egg scramble sort of dish which she prepared entirely on her own! Delicious! I miss my family already but so excited to be part of this company that is changing people’s lives not only financially, but also in terms of health.
