This was such a great experience! I highly recommend it. One girl got to be the co-pilot and the other videoed the whole thing.
Today is for Exploring!
As everyday should be… Kbug is kinda bummed in this picture because he could only fin one of his rubber boots.
Estes Park, Colorado
Oh what a trip. Estes Park is one of my favorite places, Historic Crags Lodge, Rocky Mountain National Park, Old Fashioned Georgetown Christmas complete with roasted chestnuts…sledding, snowshoeing (Alberta Falls), winery tour and wine tasting, 7 mile hike through a snowy wonderland (Bear Lake), hot chocolate, s’mores, and checkers by the campfire. We bought a wildlife book and took it along on the trails so that we could identify Elk, Mule Deer, Magpie, Stellar Jay, etc. So, glad we bought the book. It really heightened the connection with the critters that we encountered. What an experience!
Colorado, here we come!
The girl’s first flight! Adventure awaits! So much to learn about at the airport (especially when your flight is delayed)! They are so excited to go see some snow!
How time flies…
It is hard to believe that 5 years ago today was our Riley’s due date. This was back when we had the gym, and we were hosting a charity competition for CrossFit athletes across Louisiana. Lance not only coached that day, he competed with a double ear infection. being that CrossFit was pretty new to Louisiana, we only had around 30 athletes from across the state, but they raised over $8000 as a whole. If you watch the video, You will see my baby bump…haha….Riley arrived two days later. The following year, we held this same competition with over 200 athletes from across the state and raised over $72000 for charities! These events were among my favorite part of owning the gym, and boy that was a lot of growth in one year. Some people say we were crazy for selling when we did, but we sacrificed much in those years of gym ownership….and gained much….and when we sold…yes, it was a sacrifice, but we gained more time as a family…and that makes it all worth while. Here is the video from Fight Gone Bad V! I can’t believe my baby girl will be 5 on Sunday!
CrossFit Games
The CrossFit Games got me so fired up that I went for a walk, swim, and lifted some weights! I think I will be ready to compete in CA next year…Ha, right!
Flash Back…

When we owned our gym, it was a crazy hectic time. When we first affiliated in 2009, we both had full-time jobs and then we were blessed with Iz. We were the first CrossFit gym in Baton Rouge, Red Stick CrossFit, and CrossFit was pretty unheard of back then. We weren’t only running a business, we were marketing a CrossFit brand to the community, all while holding full-time jobs and chasing around an infant. Just when we thought life couldn’t get any crazier, the gym began to grow, so we needed to expand. So, we locked-in a lease on a 4000 soft space (with plans to add another 2000sqft in the future). Shortly after, we found out that in 9 months we would be blessed with Roo! Now, we had two full- time jobs, two children under 2, a growing business, and a house that was a fixer-upper! What were we thinking? We were thinking that life is an adventure, so why not! Later, when the girls were 1.5 and 3 years old, we were making some serious connections that would take our gym to the next level and our business was already taking off too fast! Growth is good, but with little ones and full-time jobs, it was hard to keep up with the hustle and bustle, especially when also trying to fix-up a house. So, we sold our fixer-upper after some sleepless nights of neighborhood disturbances, and we moved on a great little piece of property… except, it was 30+minutes away from our gym! At the gym, we held hour long classes as early as 5:00AM and ending as late as 8:30PM- So, this made for some long days and nights… Adventure… yes, life is an adventure! BUT, our family time was minimum, and our family was/is a priority. So, with, much prayer and more sleepless nights, we decided to sale our thriving business to one of our trainers and his wife… and we “fell off the map” for about 3 years! We changed our cell phone numbers, and I started working part-time… and then moved that to working very part-time… and Lance only did the fire department. It was a time to rejuvenate our lives and to grow together as a family! What a blessing the road has been! Do we miss the gym? At times, but God was so good to us when we had the gym, in our 3 years of rejuvenation, and he is still good to us today… The Iz and Roo are now 6 and (almost 5)… and their brother is 7.5 months old, and today, we are patiently awaiting our next adventure!
