Daddy took all three of his girls to target practice at the farm house this week. Ace skipped the bow, but all enjoyed the 22 while mommy relaxed indoors as baby king decided to move backwards a week before his due date…I think he is in now in my throat. Blessed by my growing family even through the heartburn…boys sure are stubborn.
Firefighter Wife
What do you do when you have been cooped up all week because of fear of spreading germs, are already ahead on school, and have extreme cabin fever? You visit 2 out of 6 grandparents, lock your keys in your car, have a teenager back into you, eat some pizza and Shirley Temples at Fleur de Lis, have your kid run into you and knock your phone onto the floor and slightly shatter the screen… After all of that (and a few other things), it was still a good adventure because we were able to visit daddy and his big truck! Some people think that fire fighters families visit the station often… Unfortunately, I don’t think I have any previous pictures of Roo at the fire station, and she will be 4 next week… and for that matter, don’t think I have any of Iz and she is almost 6… bad mommy… bad wife… Roo wanted to sit with daddy in the truck (where he sits)… and Iz wanted to see where the other “firefighters” sit, but had no interest in the drivers seat.
Galveston Bay – Moody Gardens 2014 trip 2
There girls have been busy working this week and have done a great job… The rest of the week is for play, family, and science exploration/nature studies! That may not seem like “school” to most, but every moment of everyday life is a learning adventure…and who doesn’t like an adventure?
The layers of the rainforest painted on the walls of the rainforest pyramid, butterfly release, talk, and feed …feed the fish, turtle, and stingrays…we saw some of the creatures we learned about upclose and personal ( tree frogs, bats, butterflies, anacondas, etc.)…we saw other animals from other rainforest regions… Something that we will be learning more about this week…compare and contrast rainforest cafe to actual rainforest… Hmm, why did they have zebras and elephants on the rainforest river cruise? other things we did on trip: witnessed beautiful skies, watched Galapagos 3D and learned even more about A A ALBATROSS from the viewing, saw a man act like Michael Jackson and he even ate fire, got attacked by mosquitos a lot….I mean a whole lot, bought a fan at 2am because this camping trip was much hotter than the one a month ago…at least the first night was…slept in a tent through a thunder storm and talked about how our tent was kinda like a canopy and we were sleeping on the forest floor… We swam, and swam…lazy river, water slides, wave pool, splash park, we played on the playground, we explored, Daddy and girls played with glow sticks at the bay and tied it to the song “carry your candle”….which brings me to my favorite part of the trip, hearing the girls learning and singing praise and worship songs from Isabella’s singing for the Son CD…such a special trip full of learning, fun, exploration, and memories.feeling very blessed.
Camping with Convenience
Camping with convenience for prig mommy…and outdoors for Daddy and the girls… Then, we all enjoyed the view…well, except Isabella…she is still sleeping…must have been hard work burning the State Puff Marshmallow Man in the camp fire!
And Later… Perfect place for hot chocolate, Bible story, and Reddy Fox storytime…Gypsy joined us too!
What is Community?
The article below shows so much perspective on life… and the story is one that I have already heard twice this week. I never knew many of the details – only the small details that Lance would take home from Ruthie’s husband, Mike, while on shift at the fire station. Community is something that we have been searching for for a long time… and we too have moved around locally and not so locally to find what “community” means to us as a family and as individuals- and we are blessed to say that we finally feel at home (even when things fall apart around us) – We are strong… we are family… and we have roots here… and we are making the commitment to grow these roots deeper – so that our girls may grow up with a firm foundation.

Scuba with the teenager
Perhaps a weekend of scuba diving is in order… Off to Florida with Ace and Lance… yah! First, the springs… then a bridge span… and perhaps a tugboat or a ship. Thank goodness for friends and family that will be watching my precious children and the homestead for the weekend.
