Gemma, the Wheaten Terrier! One of the original all around farm dog breeds. In a couple of days, she will meet Gypsy, our Australian Shepherd, who used to herd sheep until we moved back to the city… now she herds the mailman and neighborhood kids!
A girl…and natural paint!
In her element!

Chicken!
Our dinner guest for the evening! Do you think she knows we are eating chicken?

Raindrops
Have u ever sat for a moment and listened? Have you ever sat for a moment and listened to the rain? Have you ever sat for a moment and listened to the beauty of the raindrops fall upon the surface of a pool of water? Have you ever sat for a moment and wondered how each is unique and falls from the heavens; and then ascends from the water top, defying gravity in a sense, with a changed form? Each makes its own display- its own music and rejoicing of beauty and freedom. Have you ever sat for a moment? Have you ever sat for a moment a listened?
So… that’s that…and if you want a little science lesson on the shape of raindrops, here ya go… https://water.usgs.gov/edu/raindropshape.html

Learning is constant
This week we found this in the swamp. After a little research, we have discovered it is quite the magnificent creature(s).

My girl is growing up!
You can take the girl out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the girl! She has been helping daddy prepare “dinner” and has been hauling pond rocks for two days in order to help me with another backyard project. For those faint of heart or with weak stomachs, don’t read any further… She also put her finger in the remaining rooster heads and put on little puppet show for us! I can’t believe she is almost 6! Love her!
Backyard projects with the girls
The girls and I have had a busy morning. Moved crushed limestone, set stepping stones, trimmed crepe myrtle, moved swing back, and added a small potted blueberry plant. The girls were very instrumental in creating this beautiful sitting area with a view of our chickens and the pool… And Kbug took a long enough nap to allow us to get it all done. Now, time to relax, swim, and eat Mahi Mahi… While thinking about the completion of the next project
🙂.

To be at home…
There have been so many activities around Baton Rouge, and the weather has been beautiful… But it is hard to not just enjoy the kids and the backyard! Today we planted some herbs, began to clean up the yard, played in the tree house, swam, and just enjoyed being home!
