Backyard

We have lived here for over a year…and it is still coming together! But our yard really does have some great shape to it and some lovely details (aka: pool). The girls have been swimming for a few days, Lance never stopped swimming this winter, and I think today is my day!12829040_10205817669384810_6448375315007555149_o

Jorgi’s Bull-calf

We were blessed to live on a little farm for three years and to slow down on life (well, at least some aspects – farm-life is a lot of work too, but very enjoyable). I am so thankful and blessed to know that Jorgi and Damon found a home with a friend of ours, who has a rich pasture and a big heart for her animals! She runs quite the operation, and is always improving her methods of rotational grazing. Here is Damon and Jorgi’s little bull calf that was born today. Thanks Rintha for loving Jorgi and Damon – we couldn’t ask for a better home for them!

Gypsy and Jade in the City

We may not have our farm anymore, but we still have our herding dog and our barn cat…they are quite the duo! IMO, sometimes human behavior seems more animalistic than animal behavior. I enjoy watching animal interactions and individual behaviors. Most of the time, they amuse me… Well, unless they are bathing themselves… Now, that’s just gross!

How my baby got to be the perfect plumpness!

Big week: 4 month check up: 14lbs4oz, 24.5in. First time to try solids. Yes, he is only 4 months old, but this is when my girls started to explore food… and he would stare at us eating and smack his lips, he would put every thing to his mouth… and then when trying squash he had proper mouth motions, held my wrist and brought the spoon to his mouth… and would scream at me when I would go to get more out of the bowl… I would say he is ready to slowly begin exploring solids. Now, the rest of this post is quite lengthy. I wrote it over many late nights… I didn’t spell check it… it is more like a journal entry… but feel fre4moe to read.

“Breast is best”… isn’t this what we always hear? I know this quote is speaking in terms of nutrition for baby. I agree with this quote in terms of “nutrition” for baby for about 95% of the cases out there (let’s be honest, I just threw that number out there – I did not do a scientific study, but I am sure there is some research somewhere out there that would validate that point)… So again, in terms of “Nutrition”, in my opinion, an overwhelming number of women who breastfeed have the optimal nutrition for their baby, but there are a few women, whose milk is lacking in the nutrient arena… So, I believe as far as the nutritional value of breast milk, MANY more times than not, that it is the best for our little ones…. HOWEVER, the phrase “breast is best” can be taken out of context, and when you change the context, then you may find that “breast is not always best”.

A weekend, what’s that?

As a firefighter’s wife, you often forget what it feels like to have a “weekend”. Well, though today was Thursday, it sure felt like a Saturday. We all (Except K bug) enjoyed a chilly swim and the neighbors even joined us after the sun went a way…plans for a working baby monitor in YeH very near future so mommy doesn’t have to run inside every 5 minutes during his nap. It was a great day. Daddy enjoyed splashing all three of his girls…and mommy enjoyed some laps. It may not be “farm” life, but we are living a good life…oh. and gypsy accidentally joined us for a swim too…she is our very hyper “lifeguard” dog…if you swim to edge she wants to gently put your arm in her mouth and pull you out… Sometimes it makes swimming laps more like mouth to mouth when you come up for air…yuck!q

Target Practice

Daddy took all three of his girls to target practice at the farm house this week. Ace skipped the bow, but all enjoyed the 22 while mommy relaxed indoors as baby king decided to move backwards a week before his due date…I think he is in now in my throat. Blessed by my growing family even through the heartburn…boys sure are stubborn.
