Happy Birthday!

IMG_3577So, for Lance’s birthday I bought him a tablet so that he can start downloading books and such. I was really clever in my placement of this gift. I put it in the kitchen drawer and set an alarm. I called him about 10 minutes after the alarm was supposed to go off… but he was outside feeding the animals… So, I waited a little while and still no “Thank you call”… So, I called him and said, “Hey, do me a favor – check the drawer by the oven and see if there is a sharpie in there so that I can write the girls names on their dance outfits.” He said, “nope”.  So, I said “ok, check the drawer by the stove”.  I thought perhaps – since it was really early maybe he forgot the difference between the stove and the oven ;). He said, “yeah – there is one in there”. And, then we said our goodbyes… I thought and thought about what could be another excuse to call him and ask him to look in the drawer by the oven . I had the perfect idea.  I called him back, and this time, I asked him, “could you look one more time because I think I forgot my underwear in there”.  He asked, “what is it with these drawers and why would you put your underwear in there?” I replied, “umm, because I have a hot date tonight.” He said, “oh, is there something that you are wanting me to see in this drawer.” I said, “yes”. He said, “O, I saw that earlier when you told me to look for the sharpie, but I thought I accidentally discovered it, so I was going to act surprised when you gave it to me later.” … Hmmm, maybe I really should have put some underwear in there! Glad we know how to have fun! Happy Birthday to my best friend!  I am also thankful that 10 years ago today, I said, “Huh? What? How did you?… and then finally, “ummm…yes, I will marry you”.  There is never a dull moment with him by my side.

Beautiful Weather, Praise God!

Thankful for nice weather so that we could enjoy the outdoors without my girl getting too hot! Her cast has many pieces of art from Mommy, Daddy, littler sister, and Iz.  Side Note: Iz And Roo are being wonderful sisters! broken leg outside

Stay-at-home-mom at last!

Tomorrow is the first day that I get to be a stay-at-home mom… Something that has been on my heart for a while…. and in the fall, I get to be my girls’ “teacher”… yah! Though I will miss my students and fellow teachers/staff, I am excited about new beginnings and thankful for God’s blessings.  I am hoping that this journey will allow my family to more frequently experience adventure in all its shapes and forms… whether it be through a relaxing day on the farm, a visit to their grandparents, the discovery of a new bug in the backyard, sunlight peaking through the trees, or a trip to the mountains, life is too short to not enjoy every second of it… and children grow up way too fast!May 12 2013 Isabella Conquer rock

Part of parenthood is taking your children on adventures.  And, if (when) they fall, picking them up.  If they fall really hard and get a really big ouchy from a rock, let a doctor check it out, but don’t stop the adventure. Postpone it until they are ready (and until you have stopped being nervous around every corner)…Then allow them (under your wings) to conquer their fears (like a rockstar)!
