Lesson Planning

Janis Joplin on the record player – while Lance works on the school room and I finish lesson planning the girls first few weeks of school. First day of “Farmhouse School” (as Iz calls it) is next Monday! Next year, I plan on purchasing a mostly boxed curriculum to save on time, but I already had sooo much good stuff, so I am trying to be frugal (unless you count printer ink – yikes)! I think I like the whole record player thing over the MP3 player – sound quality rocks – and it just helps life feel at home with itself!

We got babies!

Being part of the hatching process of little guinea keets, or any poultry for that matter, is quite a magnificent experience.  God is truly an amazing creator.  Great to witness new life!

Discipline and Makeup

5 minutes before leaving to go to church… Iz: “Daddy and Mommy, I put make up on!” Lance: “You know you are supposed to ask first.” Iz: “But… I tried to ask…but, my mouth wouldn’t let me.” Lance and I hiding our chuckles behind closed doors…Lance: “Well, tell your mouth to let you tell us next time or your mouth will get in trouble.” Iz: “Ok, daddy.” I must say she had the most beautiful blue nose, forehead, and eyelids that I have ever seen.

Happy Birthday!

IMG_3577So, for Lance’s birthday I bought him a tablet so that he can start downloading books and such. I was really clever in my placement of this gift. I put it in the kitchen drawer and set an alarm. I called him about 10 minutes after the alarm was supposed to go off… but he was outside feeding the animals… So, I waited a little while and still no “Thank you call”… So, I called him and said, “Hey, do me a favor – check the drawer by the oven and see if there is a sharpie in there so that I can write the girls names on their dance outfits.” He said, “nope”.  So, I said “ok, check the drawer by the stove”.  I thought perhaps – since it was really early maybe he forgot the difference between the stove and the oven ;). He said, “yeah – there is one in there”. And, then we said our goodbyes… I thought and thought about what could be another excuse to call him and ask him to look in the drawer by the oven . I had the perfect idea.  I called him back, and this time, I asked him, “could you look one more time because I think I forgot my underwear in there”.  He asked, “what is it with these drawers and why would you put your underwear in there?” I replied, “umm, because I have a hot date tonight.” He said, “oh, is there something that you are wanting me to see in this drawer.” I said, “yes”. He said, “O, I saw that earlier when you told me to look for the sharpie, but I thought I accidentally discovered it, so I was going to act surprised when you gave it to me later.” … Hmmm, maybe I really should have put some underwear in there! Glad we know how to have fun! Happy Birthday to my best friend!  I am also thankful that 10 years ago today, I said, “Huh? What? How did you?… and then finally, “ummm…yes, I will marry you”.  There is never a dull moment with him by my side.

Scuba with the teenager

Perhaps a weekend of scuba diving is in order… Off to Florida with Ace and Lance… yah! First, the springs… then a bridge span… and perhaps a tugboat or a ship. Thank goodness for friends and family that will be watching my precious children and the homestead for the weekend.

Beautiful Weather, Praise God!

Thankful for nice weather so that we could enjoy the outdoors without my girl getting too hot! Her cast has many pieces of art from Mommy, Daddy, littler sister, and Iz.  Side Note: Iz And Roo are being wonderful sisters! broken leg outside

Iz first dance revue!

Iz had her first dance revue today and received her first bouquet of flowers from a boy…or a man… or from one very proud daddy. CONGRATS BABY GIRL! We love you!
